[INTERVIEW] Megabus Service Expansion – Pointshogger

By | April 2, 2022

Loosing Greyhound in Canada has a big blow to the bus industry. But Megabus has really stepped up to the plate. It has been almost a year since Megabus last expanded its service in Canada. Now, they are expanding further. Thank you Colin for taking the time to share your expansion plans with us.

1) Please tell us about yourself and your role with Megabus?

Colin Emberson, VP Commercial.

2) It has been almost a year since our last interview, how have things been at Megabus Canada since then?

We’ve seen a great increase in demand for travel in Canada, particularly for Canadians eager to travel to the US.  The pandemic had forced us to suspend our cross border service, but we are thrilled to be able to resume international trips once again.  Effective May 11, 2022, we will offer service between Toronto and a dozen US cities including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC.  Tickets are on sale now at on our website.

3) We understand that there are further expanding your services in Canada? Can you tell us more?

Also effective May 11, 2022, we’re increasing weekly service between Toronto, Kingston and Ottawa by 70%, Toronto and Montreal weekly service by 32% and Toronto-Niagara service by 29%.  These additional trips will add many more options for Canadians as they make their summer travel plans.

4) What can we look forward to with Megabus?

We’re always looking for new opportunities to enhance our current service offerings for the convenience of our customers while also continuing to maintain the safe, reliable, cost effective service for which we are known.

5) Any closing thoughts?

We’re pleased to see that Canadians’ interest in travel and tourism is beginning to return.  Our Canadian service has been operating for more than 60 years throughout Ontario and Quebec and we look forward to many more years of providing our customers with a best in class experience.
